What Did Ezra Miller Do? And Why Is He Seeking Mental Health Treatment?

Actor Ezra Miller is receiving professional help for “complex” mental health issues, according to his team. The 29-year-old star of The Flash and Justice League was recently charged with felony burglary in Vermont, and was arrested twice in Hawaii earlier in the year for harassment, disorderly conduct, and second-degree assault (which was dropped).

In addition to his legal troubles, Miller also faces accusations of inappropriate contact with minors, grooming, and erratic behavior.

Two women have accused Miller of abuse, and last week a Business Insider exposé centered on two separate accounts from parents who allege that Miller groomed their children or acted inappropriately with them. A June Rolling Stone investigation stated that Miller has been housing a 25-year-old mother and her three young children (all under the age of 5) at the Vermont property. Sources with knowledge of the situation alleged that Miller’s 96-acre compound has been “an unsafe environment for children” where “unattended guns” are scattered around the home on the premises.

Representatives for Miller have not publicly responded to the grooming allegations, but Miller did issue a personal statement this week.

Ezra Miller did not address the ongoing allegations, but did mention mental health as a primary factor in the situation

“Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment,” Miller said in a statement via a personal rep.

“I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life,” the actor added.

In June, a woman Miller appeared to choke in Iceland back in 2020 also shared her side of the story with Variety. In the video, the actor puts her in a chokehold before throwing her to the ground. No charges were filed against Miller in the incident at the time.

“All of a sudden, [he’s] on top of me, choking me, still screaming in my face,” said the woman, who wished to remain anonymous in her interview with the outlet.

Miller’s latest film, The Flash, is scheduled to hit theaters in June of 2023. Warner Brothers CEO David Zaslav has said he intends to release the film as scheduled, despite his lead actor’s personal troubles.
