Hollywood A-lister Ashton Kutcher suffered quite the health scare the last few years, and his superstar wife Mila Kunis was by his side every step of the way.
“Ashton and Mila have a very small social circle, they have a few close friends that are like family that have been there for Mila and Ashton throughout his health battle,” an anonymous source told Us Weekly. For those of you wondering about “anonymous Hollywood sources,” they are usually just the paid publicists of the artists that they represent.
According to the insider, Kunis, 39, was “there every step of the way” for Kutcher, 44. Kunis was “terrified about losing” her husband, who suffered a very serious health scare. “This had made their bond grow even stronger,” the source added.
Kutcher, who married his That 70’s Show costar in 2015, battled an autoimmune disorder starting in 2019. “Like two years ago, I had this weird, super rare form of vasculitis, that, like, knocked out my vision, it knocked out my hearing, it knocked out, like, all my equilibrium,” Kutcher said earlier this year in an interview.

“You don’t really appreciate it until it’s gone. Until you go, ‘I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to see again, I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to hear again, I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to walk again,’” he added, noting that the disorder left him bedridden and terrified.
Apparently the ordeal really challenged his mental health, but also put his life into greater perspective. “The minute you start seeing your obstacles as things that are made for you, to give you what you need, then life starts to get fun, right?” he said, adding that he was “lucky” to be alive. “You start surfing on top of your problems instead of living underneath them.”
The health scare also inspired Kutcher to begin training for the New York marathon — a training process that helped him lose 12 pounds.
“The biggest change physically has been the transfer of muscle mass from upper body to lower body. I’ve lost about 12 pounds,” Kutcher said late last month. “My wife has been super supportive. My biggest motivator has been my kids and my family.”
Kutcher and Kunis share two children together: daughter Wyatt, 7, and son Dmitri, 5. Though the power couple met and fell in love as actors, Kutcher likes to focus his time on business endeavors and investments these days, according to the insider. Kunis, of course, is his biggest fan.
“Ashton still found time for working at home, business and investments is his great passion and it also helped him navigate this scary year.”
