Celine Dion Divulges Incurable Health Disorder In Video

With tears in her eyes, Celine Dion explained to fans on Instagram that she has been diagnosed with an incurable neurological disorder, and that she needs time to focus on her health.

Dion, 54, recorded and posted a video for social media, saying that she’s on “open book” and that she’s been struggling with health issues “for a long time.”

“As you know, I’ve always been an open book,” she said. “And I wasn’t ready to say anything before – but I’m ready now. I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time. And it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and talk about everything that I’ve been going through.”

Dion suffers from rare, one-in-a-million disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS). The Cleveland Clinic defines SPS as “a rare autoimmune movement disorder that affects the central nervous system (the brain and spinal cord). People with this condition first experience a stiffening of the muscles of their trunk followed, over time, by the development of stiffness and rigidity in the legs and other muscles in the body.”

Dion said muscle spasms cause her a great inconvenience in terms of mobility and performance.

“While we’re still learning about this rare condition, we now know this is what has been causing all of the spasms I’ve been having. Unfortunately these spasms effect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” she explained.

Celine Dion mentioned health issues in January of this year, but didn’t elaborate to this detail

The video, which the Canadian singer recorded in both French and English, also served as a tour update: Celine Dion is postponing the European leg of her current tour.

“It hurts me to tell you, today, that this means I won’t be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February,” she said. “I have a great team of doctors working alongside me to help get better and my precious children, who are supporting me and giving me hope.”

Nearly exactly one year ago in January 2022, the “My Heart Will Go On” singer canceled the remaining North American dates of her tour due to health issues — though she didn’t elaborate at the time much further.

Speaking directly to her fans, the five-time Grammy winner said she can’t currently give 100 percent of herself to her craft right now. And therefore, she doesn’t want to water down the product.

“I miss you so much; I miss seeing all of you – being on the stage, performing for you. I always give 100 percent when I do my shows,” Dion said. “But my condition is not allowing me to give you that right now. For me to reach you again, I have no choice but to concentrate on my health at this moment. And I have hope that I’m on the road to recovery. This is my focus. And I’m doing everything that I can to recuperate.”

  1. I have been surfing online greater than three hours nowadays, but I by no means found any interesting article like yours. It?¦s lovely worth enough for me. In my opinion, if all site owners and bloggers made excellent content as you probably did, the web will likely be much more useful than ever before.Generally I don’t read post on blogs, but I would like to say that this write-up very forced me to try and do so! Your writing style has been amazed me. Thanks, very nice article.
